Authorized Recipient
An Authorized Recipient (AR) is an entity, nongovernmental or governmental, that is authorized by federal statute or federal executive order to receive fingerprint background check results on behalf of a prospective employee to determine their suitability for employment. AR entities that are issued an ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number are entitled to outsource their fingerprint submissions through Approved FBI Channelers for more efficient processing.
Not all employers are considered Authorized Recipients and written approval and permission from the FBI is required.
Examples of Authorized Recipient Entities include:
- Federally Chartered Or FDIC Banking Institutions
- Native American Tribes
- Public Housing Authorities
- Applicants For Federal Employment
- Flight Training And Aviation
